JUNIOR INTERESTS
Runners, jumper & throwers - all abilities, are welcome ... no matter how
competitive or talented an athlete may be the emphasis is on "ENJOYMENT". We
have incentive schemes based on improvement and use
for athletes aged 8 - 11 years of age.
There is ample opportunity for competition in all aspects of the sport. Coaching emphasis up to14 years is in multi-events and we offer further specialised training for those who are interested.
The club has a child protection policy and has achieved Clubmark, the Sport England and England Athletics' accreditation scheme.
COMPETITION:
CROSS COUNTRY
The NYSD League provides good competition for all age groups and attracts some large fields of competitors. Regular fixture (6) take place throughout the winter (October - March). New Marske Harriers have competed well in this league, regularly being among age group winners and high team placing.
TRACK AND FIELD
New Marske Harriers roots have been in cross country and road running. However increasingly the club competing in track & field leagues. We now will have facilities and equipment for all track and field events at Grasp Sport Centre, Laurence Jackson School, Guisborough.
ROAD RACES, MARATHONS, FUN RUNS
Membership of an Athletic Club allows athletes to enjoy a reduction of £2 in their entry fee to such events. Over a year this reduction can more than offset annual membership fees. As a club New Marske Harriers organises a series of road races each year which attract runners of all abilities (including national class).
COACHING AND OFFICIALS
Through their contacts with the sports governing bodies, New Marske Harriers are able to arrange courses for coaches and officials to any required standard. We are always looking to recruit in this area including from the newly retired and parents (subject to CRB vetting).
SOCIAL LIFE
We are a "FRIENDLY" club where athletes and supporters alike can enjoy a good social atmosphere after training and at specially organised social events.
DEVELOPING NEW FACILITIES
New Marske Harriers were instrumental in the development of new track and field facilities at the Grasp Sports Centre, Laurence Jackson School by active fundraising and seeking of grants. As well as being of direct benefit to the club, the facilities are for the benefit of the whole local population.
