It is with sadness that I have to report that Norah Cooney, a founding member and President of New Marske Harriers passed away late yesterday. She would have been 90 at the end of this month.
Norah was a hard working borough and parish councillor for over 40 years, and when Peter Boulton and Stan Martin got together to form the club in 1986 they turned to Norah for help and support which she gave willingly.
Once the club was up and running she became president and rarely missed an AGM - and that would only because she was on council business. There was quite a few times when I was able to turn to her for advice or assistance over the years.
She had been ill for a few months and that was the reason that she was unable to attend this years AGM.
