Mission Statement

The object of New Marske Harriers is the promotion of community participation in healthy recreation for the benefit of the inhabitants of Redcar and Cleveland and it's neighbouring Boroughs by the provision of facilities for athletics. Registered Charity Number 1168578

Member of the Month - July / August

 

The winners were for July:

Steve Shaw Elicia Smith

Senior - Steve Shaw - Nomiated for the support and dedication he provides to the athletes he coaches. 

Junior - Elicia Smith - Nomiated for her consistent performances in the NEYDL.

 

The winners were for August:

Trish SpeedieAMy Carter

Senior - Trish Speedie - Nomiated for her performances and numerous PB's during August. 

Junior - Amy Carter - Nomiated for win in the Northern Championships U15 75m Hurdles. 

 

Remember, any member/parent/coach can nominate a senior or junior each month. It will allow the club to recognise achievements that are not necessarily catered for by our existing award structure. It could be for competing or volunteering.  Preference will usually be to those where the event has taken place within the month and who are unlikely to win one of the club's annual awards - but this will depend the strength of each month's nominations.

Member of the Month - May

Dan McBrideSam Garratt

The winners were:

 

Senior - Dan McBride - nominated for his Gold Medal in the North Eastern AthleticsChampionships in May 2015 following return from injury.

Junior - Sam Garratt - nominated for his 800m win and PB in poor conditions at the BMC race in Durham.

 

Remember, any member/parent/coach can nominate a senior or junior each month. It will allow the club to recognise achievements that are not necessarily catered for by our existing award structure. It could be for competing or volunteering.  Preference will usually be to those where the event has taken place within the month and who are unlikely to win one of the club's annual awards - but this will depend the strength of each month's nominations.

Weekly Update - 31/05/15

Shelli Gordon

A busy week for New Marske Harriers with the Hardmoors Ultra Running Events, NECAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, NYMAC Relays and the British Milers Club Events.

 

In the Hardmoors 160 mile race around the Cleveland Way and missing link, Shelli Gordon romped home to overall victory beating all the men in 40 hours and 33 minutes.  Iain Povey ran the equally hard but not quite so long 110 mile race finishing in an excellent time of 29 hours 55 minutes.

 

At the North East Track and Field Championships there were honours for Archie Lowe, 3rd U13 1500m, Matthew Walker 2nd U13 100m, 3rd 200m & 1st High Jump + Long Jump, Amy Carter 1st U15 75m hurdles, Harry Allan 2nd U17 1500m & 3000m, Daniel McBride 1st U20 100m and Amy Readman 2nd Senior 100m.

 

The NYMAC Relays saw the team of Kath Aspin, Trish Speedie, Kerry Neesam and Kay Neesam picking up 2nd place in the F160+ category.

 

In the British Milers Club event at the Sportcity Grand Prix there were 187 PB’s out of 385 athletes including Dom Shaw with a 14:23:49 in the 5000m.

Member of the Month - April

Kath Aspin 5th V45Harry Allan

The winners were:

 

Senior - Kath Aspin - Nominated for her Sub 3:15 PB in the Manchester Marathon and her 5 mile, 10k, 10 mile, 1/2 marathon and  20 mile PB's in the lead up to the race. 

Junior - Harry Allan - nominated for his PB  and U17 Club Record of 4:41.3 in the 1500m Steeplechase previously held by Elliott Jackson in 4:45.0 set in 2007.

Member of the Month - March

Charlotte EllisRebecca Tiley

The winners were:

 

Senior - Charlotte Ellis - nominated for her excellent unaided run in the Locke Park 20.

Junior - Rebecca Tilley - nominated for her selection and performance in the Inter County Championships in Birmingham.
