Team Manager Update

The Cross Country season is nearly with us and these are the main events that NMH will be entering.

NYSD League

The main league we compete in is the NYSD which includes clubs from North Yorkshire and South Durham. The NYSD’s as always are turn up and pay and you will get a number for the whole series if you are U13 or older. The cost for the whole series is £4 for all those U17 and £5 for anyone older. This has got to be the best value season tickets in any sport. All NYSD meetings this season will have U11 races which are usually entered on a turn up and run basis but ask me or check the event details under Cross Country fixtures on our website. These start about midday. The first U11 race is normally at 1pm. The senior men are last off usually about 2.15pm. This year please note some of the meetings are on a Saturday.

Pre entered Events

The club also enters several relays as well as the North Eastern, Northerns and National Championships. These get larger at each stage with enormous fields in the National which is being held at Sunderland again this year. The North Easterns are a great introduction to a championship and these are being held on the popular Summerhill course at Hartlepool. We want to get a large turnout to both these events this year so please make a note of these dates. Having the Nationals so close is an excellent opportunity to experience the event. We encourage all runners to enter irrespective of age or ability- It’s all about taking part!

We aim to enter teams for all the age groups at the National relays in Early November. The Cathedral relays are for senior teams only. The area championships are for U13 age group upwards

The entries for these events are very early so please let me know as soon as you can whether you would like to compete. This is especially important for the relays which are an administrative nightmare in terms of getting teams together. Help in letting me know your intentions and saving me a lot of chasing up is much appreciated.

Saturday 3rd November National X Country Relays Mansfield. Entry by 8th Oct

Saturday 8th December NE Champs Summerhill Hartlepool. Entry by 5th November

Sunday 20th January Cathedral relays Durham City. Entry by 3rd January

Saturday 26th January Northern Champs Knowsley Lancashire Entry by 3rd January

Saturday 25th February Nationals Sunderland Fixture Details

The regional and national events need to be entered in advance. I have given the deadlines above so please let me know by these dates if you would like to enter. The club will pay for these entries but you are expected to refund the fee if you do not run for any reason.

Please support the club by entering as many events as possible. All these events are great fun whatever your level and experience as there is always someone to run against who is roughly your level and it is always good to run at different venues against new people. The bigger events are a great experience so please give them serious thought

New Marske have a great record in the relays so we have a lot to live up to but it would also be great to get more teams out so please put the dates in your diary and let me know if you want to compete. You are not running for very long in them and they can be very exciting.
