What was a crisp morning in bright sunshine, and a course covered with a sugary ice coat everything seemed set for a good days cross country. And so it was but by the time the senior men raced the sun had done its job of taking the frost out of the ground and had disapeared behine the blanket of cloud, and the sugary ice became a chocolatey mud bath!!
It was a good day for the North East contingent and Andy Wiles was the pick of New Marske performers finishing 8th in the senior race and 2nd NE athlete. Richard Morrell was 30th, Andy Sugden 167th, Iain Povey 330th Rob Currie 372nd of the 488 finishers
In the under 13 boys Sam Garrett, Patrick Wilson and Josh McMillan were 45th, 59th & 111 of 141 finishers. Hannah Kitchener was a very creditable 27th in the U15 Girls and Izzy Pearse 104th of 143 finishers. Katie Coulson was a little disapointed with 59th in U17 Womens race, but Wayne parker will have been pleased with 29th in the same age group. We had two senior women - Sarah Rogers who continues her marathon training finished 117th having run at Albert Park earlier in the day and Louise Danby 163rd of 190 finishers
