After a wet week and a wet start to the day the weather cleared for the record field of 142 runners. At Highcliff, Phil Sanderson from NFR already had a substantial lead and went on to win the men’s race. Shelli Gordon was second women over Highcliff but managed to overtake Caittlin Webb-Ellis from Loftus and seal victory in the women’s race. New Marske Ladies won the Team Prize with Kay Neesam 3rd, Kath Aspin 6th and Jo Goldsmith 9th. There were also good runs from Bob Currie 77th, Roger Moore 92nd, Nick O’Grady 108th, Martin White 128th and Colin Scollay 137th.
With the conditions underfoot being very slippery there were a few injuries amongst the field. It highlighted the need to carry the required equipment and at the next few races “No Kit” with mean “No Go”.
