Gisborough Moors Race 15/04/12

Jim Powers to Victory

On a day where the weather showed all four seasons, Jim Bulman started the race with purpose sprinting away as if he was running a 5K. At the top of the first climb three runners had broken away from the pack with Cameron Taylor (Esk Valley) ahead closely followed by Jim and Paul Butler (Loftus). By Captain Cooks, Jim had a short lead. As the race progressed Jim pulled away to win by just over a minute from Cameron with Paul in Third. The ladies race was equally close with Kay Neesam leading by 20m approaching Highcliff, but finally being beaten on the decent by Karen Robertson (NFR) by 8 seconds. New Marske ladies easily won the Team competition with Kay, Shelli Gordon and Sharon Bulman. Also running for New Marske were Steve Guest 55th, David Heath 99th, Ronnie Sherwood 174th (1st M70) & Sandra Jemson 214th. In the junior races Archie Lowe finished 2nd in the U12 boys race with Rebecca Aspin 1st and Bethany Bergstrand 2nd in the girls race. In the under 16’s races Sam Garratt was 1st and Tim Hunter 2nd with Alice Rigby winning the girls race.
