Hello, those of you who know me well, are well aware that I like to think of a major challenge every year to test myself, and ultimately to raise as much money as possible for charity at the same time… and the more difficult it is for me the more it seems to attract me!!
This year I again intend to empty your pockets of hard earned (and not so hard earned) cash for ‘ North of England Childrens Cancer Research Fund’
Everybody I know has been touched in some way by cancer… be it friends, relatives, or a friend of a friend… but what I find so difficult to accept is when this effects children especially those I know well….
Enna Stephens is 8yrs old and a friend of my daughter’s, and amongst her schoolwork, dancing and playing is also battling a medulablastoma tumour.
Matthew Lisle is the nephew of my friend Jan, and was only 17yrs old when he lost his long fight against a brain tumour in March this year.
These two have shown such courage in what I cannot even begin to try and describe, but most of all this is not a situation that any child and their family should be in, therefore assisting in raising funding into research of children’s cancer is one way to help prevent/cure this...and the best way I know how to help is to run (or actually maybe crawling)!!!
Last year I raised £2000 for two charities with a 110ml race 'The Hardmoors 110' in which i completed in 27hrs and 5mins (with a torn muscle and ligament)….however this year I aim to better this- self improvement is always good….. and…..aim to complete a series of events…
Run the Cleveland Way 'The Hardmoors 110'for those non runners 110 miles across the Cleveland hills and moorland running through the night in 24hrs (ish)!
…followed by 6 weeks later…
Running the Lykewake of 42miles….
Then for the finale… if i'm still standing....
To complete the Coast to Coast across Scotland 100+ miles by Running a marathon, Mountain biking and kayaking (I’ve never been in a kayak yet…so this could be interesting…) across The Scottish Highlands, Loch Ness, Great Glen, Ben Nevis and Glen Coe.
Amongst all of this I’m also going to be completing (fingers crossed) my initial course with my German shepherd police dog Dylan (my new training partner) oh and also being taxi for two children!!
So everything crossed that this goes to my so unorganised plan...
So please find the time to donate..anything is much appreciated….
