Mission Statement

The object of New Marske Harriers is the promotion of community participation in healthy recreation for the benefit of the inhabitants of Redcar and Cleveland and it's neighbouring Boroughs by the provision of facilities for athletics. Registered Charity Number 1168578

Nearly 100 runners turned out at Gribdale Gate on a warm summers night.  The New Marske Ladies team again set off bunched together passing Captain Cooks in the same photo frame.  Kath Aspin slotted in behind Shelli Gordon and Kay Neesam. Kath's increased mileage for her marathon training is paying dividends as she picked off Kay and Shelli as they moved to Percy Rigg and Hanging Stone.  Kath came home in 48th (3rd Lady) in 63:25 (PB) knocking 4 1/2 minutes off last years time.  Shelli was next home in 56th (4th Lady) 64:40 also a PB for the route.  Kay followed in 59th (6th Lady) 65:19 and Jo Goldsmith in 75th (8th Lady) also in a new PB of 69:07. The ladies clinched the team prize for the 3rd successive race.  Ronnie Sherwood was 1st in the M65 category in 78th 69:56 and Nick O'Grady also got a PB in 86th 71:48.   Thomas Aspin won the junior race to Captain Cooks Monument and back in 11:25.    Next Race, Guisborough Grunt,  Tuesday 17th August at 7:00pm at the Rugby Club.
