Melmerby 10K 27/05/12
A hot day at the races
The organisers announced that it had been the hottest Melmerby 10K so far, and it certainly looked like it with the sweat pouring down Andy Pearson, and he was only eating a cake whilst watching his sons play football near the start.
Out on the course the high hedges trapped the heat and the sponges were a welcome sight at the water stations. Times were slower than expected due to the heat. Kath Aspin was first Harrier back, claiming 1st Vet45. Erin Pearson was close behind wondering why she had returned to Melmerby considering it had been almost as hot when she ran two years ago. John Rymer was the final Harrier home also looking like he was feeling the heat. In the junior races Thomas Aspin won the 2.25 mile U11 race with Rebecca Aspin coming 7th in the U13 race.
