More than 200 runners paid their respects to North York Moors AC’s Thomas Wall who was tragically killed in a car accident, by holding a minute's silence before New Marske Harriers Victorian 10k, a race he was due to run in.
The conditions were almost ideal for the race, a low breeze off the coast but a little humid. Continuing his excellent form, the race was won by Wondiye Indelbu in a time of 31:15 with Matthew Gunby of Woodford Green 2nd, James Bulman & Tristan Learoyd of New Marske 3rd and 4th. Making his 10K debut, New Marske member and Triathlete Paul Brown came 5th in 34:37, a great result on the back of recently becoming European Triathlon Champion for his age group in Austria.
For the ladies, Abbi Morrow from Hartlepool Burn Road was 1st in 39:07, Kay Neesam, New Marske 2nd, Joanne Lee, Tyne Bridge 3rd, Nicola Kent, Loftus 4th and Kath Aspin, New Marske 5th.
New Marske members also having great runs and gaining personal bests were Simon Clements, Paul Cleasby, Ian Hague, Lisa Bennett, Katie Coulson, Laurence Everitt, Helen Whitney and Tanya Dixon.
