Hartlepool 5 - 29/03/15

A new course greeted nearly 600 runners at Hartlpool’s Marina 5 mile race with a revised start cutting out the twists and turns from Jackson’s Landing. The race started with the traditional firing of the Cannon at the Maritime experience as the runners headed off on a there and back course to Seaton Carew. Middlesbrough & Cleveland’s Greg Jayasuriya lead the field home in a super 25:56 setting the mark for the new course, 2 minutes outside New Marske’s Ricky Stevenson’s record for the old course. Drew Inglis was 2nd in 27:04 with New Marske’s Paul Darroch 3rd in a new PB of 27:44.
In the Ladies race, Kendal’s Sarah Tunstall came home in 29:08 with next 4 positions all being picked up by veterans. Shona Fletcher of Richmond and Zetland was 2nd in 29:23, 3rd Stephanie Dann of North Shields 30:41, 4th Louise Rodgers of Tyne Bridge 31:23 and New Marske’s Kath Aspin in a PB of 31:39 was 5th putting her 3rd in the 2015 V45 UK rankings for 5 Miles.
Also running for New Marske were Paul Cleasby 47th in 30:34, David Paley 124th in a PB of 34:12, Joanne Goldsmith 165th in a PB of 36:05, Diane Hall 357th in 44:46, David Matthews 373rd in a PB of 45:49 and Julian Wilkinson 402nd in 47:12.
