Thanks to all the helpers who made the race possible.
Saltburn Phoenix 10K - 29/07/12
A clean sweep at Saltburn for the Bulman family with Jim winning the men's race in 33:36 and Sharon winning the ladies race in 42:12. Jo Goldsmith, despite the results saying she was a man, came 3rd in the ladies race. Also running were Nick O'Grady 22nd 47:328, John Smith 31st 49:51 and Jim Conaghan 32nd 49:57. And if you have not seen the knitting on Saltburn Pier, it is well worth a visit.
Victorian 10k - 22nd July 2012
A sunny but breezy day greeted the 178 runners for the Victorian 10k, the first to be completed on this course. At the 1K point 5 runners were ahead, but by the 5K mark it was down to two with Jim Bulman and James Askew running side by side. Rosie Smith had a clear lead in the ladies race. In the latter stages of the race James pulled away to beat Jim by a small margin. Shaun O'Grady completed the top three. Rosie Smith finished 6th overall and 1st lady followed by Tracey Waller and Joanne Lee. Other New Marske winners included Sharon Bulman 1st w35, Joanne Goldsmith 3rd w40, Kath Aspin 1st w45, Mark Bradley 3rd m50, Phil Miles 2nd m70 and Jim Conaghan 3rd m70. Paul Cleasby roared home 3rd New Marske man in a new PB. Many thanks to our organisers along with the many marshalls and helpers who put the effort in to put on great race.
Pit Stop 10K 4th July 2012
Darlington Harriers hosted The Pit Stop 10k on Wednesday 4th July, held at the Croft Motor Racing Circuit. A flat course, a windless evening, racing shoes on and off we go aiming for new PB territory. Only two New Marske Harriers were flying the flag that evening Erin Pearson almost achieved a podium finish placing 4th in 42:41 and I chugged along in 33rd place (8th in the vet 40 category) with a time of 40:18. The race itself was very well organised and well attended with 220 finishers. It consists of 3 laps of the circuit with runners needing to take the racing line to avoid running extra distance on the wide track, be warned though there is no chequered flag at the end of the penultimate lap.
