Ricky breaks his course & club record!

At the Snake Lane 10 miler on Sunday, Ricky Stevenson broke his own course record and club record by 24 seconds - in a time of 48.03. Needless to say he felt he should have dipped below 48 minutes!

This takes Ricky to the top of the UK 10mile rankings for 2011.

The was also an official pb for Sarah Rogers, but she was disapointed, as she had run the first 10miles at the Brass Monkey half marathon quicker.

“Most inclines come in the first 15 miles…….” so said the route guide. The Health & Safety team must have been on overtime putting out all the ‘steep incline’, ‘steep decline’ and ‘tight bend’ signs all around the 26 mile course. Kath Aspin, Nick O’Grady and Steve Cram joined the 972 starters for the inaugural running of this race. The route followed the Lakeside Way rarely leaving the shores of Kielder Water.

On Friday April 2nd 2010, members of LC (Lauf Club (Running Club)) Rapid Dortmund attended the Mermaid 10km road race in Marske, starting what we hope to be a long and exciting international club partnership. Andrew Hart and Clive Summersgill take up the story, as the two New Marske Harriers returned the favour on October 9th in Germany.

On a very wet morning (Sunday 3rd Oct 2010) - Elliott Jackson ran a pb 35:20 to win his first 10k road race. A group of 4 got to the 1k mark and Elliott realised that they were not going to be quick enough so decided to push on by himself. At end of the 6k part of the figure of 8 course he was out of sight of the chasing runners and finished over a minute clear of the runner up.
