NEYDL – Division 1– Match 2 Sunday 1st June 2014 at Morpeth


Whilst the Senior Harriers were setting PB's at the Middlesbrough 5k, the younger New Marske Harriers were soaking up the sun at a warm Morpeth Athletics track in the 2nd league meeting of the 2014 series.   Eleven year old Charlotte Bennett set the team off to a flying start with a win and PB in the U13 800m and Betty Bergstrand picked up 3rd in the U13 1500m.  Elicia Smith followed this up with a win and PB in the U13 75m Hurdles, a win and PB in the Long Jump and a win and PB in the Shot Put. Eli Barnbrook and Freya Bourke got the same time of 5.26.7 to get 2nd in the U15 1500m.  Amy Carter was 2nd in the U15 75m Hurdles.  Hannah Raine was 3rd in the U15 Long Jump. Ruth Barnes 2nd in the U15 High Jump. Katie Jones won the U15 Pole Vault.  Rebecca Aspin claimed a club record and PB in winning the U15 Hammer.  Ellie Heath claimed 3rd in the U17 300m before a storming finish to win the 300m Hurdles and finishing it off with 2nd in the Javelin. Jess Tyreman was 2nd in the U17 800 and 3rd in the High Jump. 
For the boys, Dominic Shipman was 2nd in the U13 800m followed by 2nd in the Long Jump,  Archie Lowe 3rd in the U13 1500m and Lucas Pentland 3rd in the U13 75m Hurdles.   Matthew Brining was 3rd in the U13 High Jump and 3rd in the Shot Put.  Reece Curtis picked up a PB of 2.09 whilst winning the U15 800m and was also 2nd in the Discus.  Luke Baines was 3rd in the U15 800m Hurdles and 3rd in the Pole Vault.  Thomas Aspin was 3rd in the u15 Shot Put before setting a PB in the 1500m.  Hassan Ben-Tiba and Sam Garratt were 1st and 2nd in the U17 1500m.  Ryan Shaw was 2nd in the U17 400m Hurdles. Jonny Whiteside won the U17 Pole Vault in a PB of 2.85m with Josh Baines close behind in 2.60m.  Josh was also 2nd in the Javelin and 3rd in the shot.
The Youth Development Events are not just about winning, it is a team competition and there were many more good runs from New Marske Runners, well done to you all.
