The season will run from 1st April to 31st October each year.
The scoring can be achieved at:
Recognition of Achievement Certificate.
Awarded to all athletes who register at least one eligible performance.
This will show the meetings and events covered with the performance(s) achieved.
Where an athlete has represented the club in all fixtures of the league competition appropriate to his/her age, the award will be designated as “Special”.
The certificate will also show the score achieved within the appropriate age group awards outlined below – this score will also be the baseline used to calculate the “most improved” award in the following season.
Awarded to the athlete with greatest percentage increase of age group score from previous season as shown on “Recognition of Achievement” Certificate – using the same scoring system. – i.e. an athlete that changes age group will have improvement measured against original age group tables.
The Event Group awards are open to all age groups starting from under 15. Performances will scored as an aggregate of best 3 performances using WAVA age grading i.e. a score out of 300 (Age Grading Factor is 100% from age 20 to age 32) – there is an easy to use calculator .
The scoring allows males and females to compete on equal footing for each award.
Any combination of throwing events. Correct weights are to be used at each age group.
Any combination of jumping events appropriate to the age group.
Any combination of flat and hurdle events appropriate to the age group up to 400m.
Any track running event 800m or over appropriate to the age group.

Multi Event Awards – certificates will be awarded to all who qualify, and a trophy to best in each category.
Calculated using UKAthletics Shine Star:track award – i.e. must include a run (speed or endurance), a throw and a jump. Scoring table
Calculated using New Marske Harriers Track & Field Scoring tables, the best three scores to include a run (speed or endurance), a throw and a jump. Additional points of 2 per meeting, will be awarded for representing the club in YAL competition
Using New Marske Harriers Track & Field Scoring tables, any combination of best 3 scores at run (speed or endurance), throw or jump. Additional points of 2 per meeting, will be awarded for representing the club in YAL competition.
Pentathlon Award by completing 5 events against the performance targets in the New Marske Harriers Track & Field Scoring tables.
The 5 scored events must be:
1 Speed
1 Endurance
1 Jump
1 Throw
1 further event from any of these groups.
Using New Marske Harriers Track & Field Scoring tables, any combination of best 3 scores at run (speed or endurance), throw or jump. Additional points of 2 per meeting, will be awarded for representing the club in YAL competition.
Boys can achieve a Decathlon Award by completing 10 activities against the performance targets in the New Marske Harriers Track & Field Scoring tables. During the season, the athlete must complete any 10 events from the Speed, Endurance, Jumps and Throws group but a maximum of three events only may be selected from each group.
Where an athlete completes more than the required number of events in a group, the events with the best points scores will be used. The sum of the points from the 10 events used can be compared with the aggregate tables to calculate which of the 5 Decathlon Awards has been achieved.
Use aggregate New Marske Harriers Track & Field Scoring tables.
Girls can achieve a Heptathlon Award by completing 7 events against the performance targets in the New Marske Harriers Track & Field Scoring tables. During the season, the athlete must complete any seven events from the Speed, Endurance, Jumps and Throws group but a maximum of two events only may be selected from each group.
Where an athlete completes more than the required number of events in a group, the events with the best points score will be used. The sum of the points from the 7 events used can be compared with the aggregate tables below to calculate which of the 5 Heptathlon Awards has been achieved.

The above will scores on performances achieved over the season and scored using WAVA Age Graded Decathlon scores.
Race Walking will not score in above awards but will have separate awards.
Junior Award 7-19 (male or female) using Shine scoring system and will use the coloured award bands to compare scores across age groups.
Senior (inc Veterans) Award scored as an aggregate of best 3 performances using WAVA age grading i.e. a score out of 300 (Age Grading Factor is 100% up to age 32) – any combination of distances.
By using the Shine Awards Scheme different and modified events can be scored and aligned to mainsteam awards.
